Parking for Trips by Air & Sea

Over the weekend, I started looking for a place to park the car at or near the Charlotte Douglas Airport while we're away on a trip. If you want curbside valet parking, it will cost a small fortune ($17/day)and prices range down to business valet (10) close-in (7), and satellite (5)/day. But there are many other options available. I am a member of a loyalty program with Choice hotels and was surprised to learn they offer part of their parking lot to an offsite parking company. One does not need to spend the night at the hotel (which we often do for early morning flights) to be eligible for long term parking at reasonable rates. We'll be parking for 20 days for less than $2.75 a day. There are lots of companies out there that offer parking with luggage help, and terminal pickup and delivery. We have used Park 'n' Fly, Park 'n' Go in both Charleston SC and Ft. Lauderdale and Miami, and for our next trip have reserved with OneStopParking.com. I hope their service is as dependable and accommodating as the others we have used.

General Map of our Travels

I guess a good start would be to show you all where I (we) have been. I did some traveling before I met and married JD, so that is included here, too. Even though we are getting older, we still have dreams and our plans include future travels. The places we've been are marked in yellow and our "bucket list" destinations are pinned in green.

About this travel blog:

JD wasn't much of a traveler when I first met him.  Soon after we started dating, I traveled to South Korea to fulfill a two-year teaching contract.  He flew halfway around the world to tell me that he couldn't live without me.  After his proposal, on several different occasions before my contract was over, we traveled together to China (Beijing, Xian & Shanghai) and Japan (Tokyo & Kyoto). Sometime in the near future, I'll be trying to catch up on the reporting of all our travels prior to this year (1993-2013).
We have 3 basic types of travel we enjoy.
We love our beach weeks--JD and I  were married at Myrtle Beach when I returned from Korea and love to spend time there.  We always spend one week in the summer and travel to that and other beaches occasionally during the year.
Our second type of travel is our explore the USA/Canada travel. Each year we take a week or two and travel to a different US and/or Canadian destination.  Sometimes it's a road trip and sometimes we fly or sail.  We're also looking into taking a rail trip.
And our third  travel type is to foreign destinations.  We have each created our travel "bucket list" and take turns selecting destinations. Most of that travel involves a cruise of some sort.

What I'd like to do here is share travel stories, tips, pictures. I'd also like to be of help to anyone who has general travel questions or questions about the places we've been.
